Successful new school models have identified the primary ingredient to their success—quality school leaders. EdVillage developed the Global Fellowship Program to prepare educators from around the world for transformational school leadership. EdVillage recruits and trains education entrepreneurs and educators with the vision and passion to open high-quality university preparatory schools serving low income communities in their home countries. The Global Fellowship Program is specifically for educators from outside the United States interested in being active participants in a global network of exceptional schools.
EdVillage’s approach to training school leaders combines classroom-based learning, on-the-job experience and individual coaching. Five weeks of intensive coursework engages leadership experts from within and outside the education sector to cover the following topics: Understanding Cultural Contexts in our Educational Practices; Self-awareness and Our Own Leadership Styles, Strengths, and Weaknesses; Leadership and Organizational Alignment; Instructional Vision and Strategic Plan; Operational Management; and Tying it Together: Leadership, Instruction, and Culture. Residencies in high-performing schools around the world allow school leaders to experience first-hand what education excellence can look like. Individual coaching throughout the leadership training process allows school leaders to identify their own strengths and weaknesses and contextualize their training to their home environment.
